The Queen Vic, the Krays, Beau Bells and Meat Pies – politics jumps on football, but why West Ham

Barrack Obama toplessI’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. There is nothing better for watching PR in practice than politics. This week I’m interested in politics from beyond the pond.

That’s right, Mr Obama has just won the Primary in South Carolina, beating Ms Clinton.

He’s already being hailed as the best shot for booting the Republicans out. Hillary apparently alienates the good ole boys. But Barack must be confident. He’s already looking to appease us Brits.

And the reason I say this. He has declared support for an unwinnable cause. He supports West Ham. Now then. Is it just me or is the point of this announcement slightly, well, missing?

Barrack. The beautiful man of American politics. The man that does not put Chuck Norris as the lynch pin of his foreign policy. The candidate that is not a Mormon. The candidate that has not done that much wrong – except playing the race card once against Hillary.

That’s right, Barack supports West Ham? Why? Because he saw them play when over seeing family. So, the PR message is there – Barack is a man of the people, that understands football (so-chur) and will get down and dirty with a meat pie.

I just wish I could believe it. Barack in the East End. Next he’ll be pulling pints and fixing cars for Ian Beale.

Ok, this may have gone a little silly but his PR people should focus on America until he wins. Christ, if Bush could get in with knowing only three of the 10 foreign leaders Barack doesn’t need to impress us… Yet.
